Principal's Fall Message 2022

August 2022

Dear Dimmitt Families,

It will always be my pleasure to welcome our new students, staff, and families, and to reconnect to familiar faces.  So, on behalf of all Viking staff members, it is my honor to welcome the Dimmitt learning community to the 2022-2023 school year and this year's theme, Better Tomorrow than I am Today and as always, that You Matter!

There is no need for school supply shopping- We charge a one-time school supplies fee of $30.00, $10.00 (free/reduced) for all grade levels.  This covers all school supplies your child will need at school.  The only other supplies you will need to purchase are those for home.  Fee info sheets are available on the school website.  Please pay the fees at the school or online.

BETTER TOMORROW THAN I AM TODAY & YOU MATTER -Our school's running motto is "YOU MATTER!"  We want all students and staff members to know that their voice matters and when used appropriately can be a vital instrument for change in their community.  At Dimmitt we understand and model seeking/providing opportunities for input and feedback.  "YOU MATTER" focuses on the whole person, including academic success, attendance, attitude, participation in athletics, and school sponsored activities.  "BETTER TOMORROW THAN I AM TODAY" is our 2022-23 motto.  We want to ensure we all have a growth mindset.  We made it through a tough year and are better for it.  Opportunities for greater understanding will come throughout the year.  The first opportunity will be the first few days of school where students and staff will participate in community/team building activities, lessons, and grade level meetings with this concept in mind.  Vikings will be continuing advisory.  Advisory focuses on SEL, teaching habits of issue and the Viking Way.  We want to foster strong relationships between students and between teacher and students.  Please talk with your student and their teacher about their learning.  We want to share as you too are a part of our learning community.  It takes a village.  We look to strengthen our connection through Family Partnership Meetings.  More info will com about these meetings as well.

Strength in Collaboration and Partnership- Most importantly, please know that our doors are always open, and we value the opportunity to visit with our families.  Teachers are available before and after school daily, as swell as during their planning time.  However, please give the teacher 24hrs before you schedule time to visit to discuss any questions or concerns- we want to work in partnership with your and your student.  Your are their first teacher, and we are pleased to have the opportunity to collaborate with you and your family along their educational journey.

Home Hotspot Parent/Guardian Request

If you do not have internet access in the home the district will provide you with a wireless hotspot that provides free access to the internet at home.
