Principal's Fall Message 2021
Dear Dimmitt Families,
I hope everyone is having a relaxing, restful summer spending time renewing relationships with family and friends! This is always an exciting and special time of the year as we prepare to have all our Vikings back at school for the first time in 18 months! Thank you for all you've done and continue to do as parents in contribute to a very successful beginning of school. The start of a school year is always an exciting time, not only for students, but for families and staff as well. However, this start brings a newness we are all experiencing for the first time. Whether it is welcoming our new students, staff, and families or a reintroduction to familiar faces. It is my pleasure on behalf of teachers and staff to welcome the Dimmitt school community to the 2021-2022 school year and reminding you that You Matter!!
There is no need for school supply shopping- We charge a one-time school supplies fee of $30.00, $10.00 (free/reduced) for all grade levels. This covers all school supplies your child will need at school. The only other supplies you will need to purchase are those for home. Fee info sheets are available on the school website. Please pay the fees during the Viking Business Day on August 23rd.
Celebrating Good Things- Please follow our school on Twitter @DimmittMS, Facebook @Dimmitt Vikings, or Instagram @dimmitt_vikings, which will highlight photographs of the many good things happening in our classrooms daily. We also encourage you to check out our school webpage on a regular basis to stay informed about event dates/times, testing schedules, etc.
YOU MATTER - Our school's running theme is "YOU MATTER!". Together we create a sense of oneness and make every effort to show each individual student and staff/faculty members how important they are to the overall success of DMS. "YOU MATTER" focuses on the whole person, including academic success, attendance, attitude, participation in athletics, the arts, and school sponsored activities. More information will be coming throughout the school year, in the meantime, we will spend the first few days of school in team building activities, getting to know each other games, and building successful habits of learning. Our staff will be continuing advisory (homeroom) this year. The focus of this process is helping to foster strong relationships between students, and between teachers and students. We encourage you to visit with your child and their teacher about this exciting opportunity. There may be pieces of the process you would find helpful in utilizing at home and we are happy to share.
Power of Positive Communication - Most importantly, please know that our doors are always open, and we value the opportunity to visit with our families. Teachers are frequently available before and after school daily, as well as during their planning time. Please schedule time to visit with your child's teachers should youhave teamwork between home and school. You are their first teacher and we are please to have the opportunity to collaborate with you and your family along their educational journey.
